Dinner
at Bongkasa Palace
Puri Banyuaning (Bongkasa palace) is situated in a small village
named Bongkasa in Bali's northern-most district, Badung. Banyuaning,
which translated from the Balinese means clear water, was
the name of Puri's first ruler (Penglisir).
The Puri is surrounded by a lush vegetation of hibiscus, lotus,
water lilies, frangipani and other tropical plants that are
common to all Balinese gardens. The uniqueness of Puri Banyuaning's
gardens can be found in their several hundred years old durian
trees.
The Puri also hosts a dinner with a Balinese procession, cocktails,
dances and other performances. The venue for these performances
is the Wantilan Bali, located at the rear of the Puri. Wantilan
Bali is a large stage with the carved features and thatched
roof that are typical of Balinese architecture. Puri Banyuaning
has tree-lined court-yards and gardens, referred to as the
Jabe Sisi (the front yard), the Jaba Tengah (the central yard)
and the Jeroan or Puri (the interior yard). The Jaba Sisi
is set on the low ground, and as one proceeds to the Jabe
Tengah and Jeroan, the grounds becomes increasingly higher.
Each level of the Puri symbolizes different states of enlightenment.
To proceed from the outside of the Puri to the interior or
from the Jabe Sisi to the Jeroan, is to approach progressively
higher states of holiness.
Maximum
capacity : 300 persons.
