Perahu Race
in Sanur.
In
Bali, both the seaside and the mountains are essential
for both religious life and economic activities on the
island. One of the most memorable sights is the local
fishermen returning to the beach in the evening, their
boats brimming with silver fish. It's a great adventure
in participating in Tunjung Petak's boat race. Visitors
can sail away using a traditional outrigger sailboat,
locally called a jukung. It is made from a hollow log
and the boats are brightly painted, with a carved beaked
head at the bow representing the "Gajahmina"
elephant fish, a mythological creature that rules the
sea. A BBQ lunch can be arranged.
