- 05 BESAKIH TOUR
(8.30 a.m. -4.30. p.m.)
The
main destination on this impressive full day tour is
Besakih Temple, located on the slopes of Mount Agung.
All Balinese look upon this as the holiest of all holy
places on their island. During festivals and ceremonies
the temple is exquisitely decorated, but even at quiet
times it has a grand aura. The drive includes visits
to:
Gianyar - Bali's weaving centre, well known for its
colourful traditional and modern weavings.
Klungkung - visit Kertagosa, with its ancient courthouse
that has an entire ceiling mural depicting the punishment
in hell for wrongdoers and the rewards awaiting in heaven.
Bukit Jambul - beautiful terraced rice field with a
panorama that stretches all the way to the coastline
far below.
Goa Lawah - the Bat Cave; a cave where thousands of
bats cluster around the entrance, said to penetrate
to Mount Agung.

- 06 BEDUGUL TOUR
(9.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.)
This
tour takes you to the mountain resort of Bedugul, where
Lake Bratan lies sparkling in the midst of an elongated
valley which was formed centuries ago, the crater of
a primeval eruption. On one shore there is a small temple
called Ulun Danu, honouring the Goddess of the lake.
Bedugul has a botanical garden, a colourful local market
where villagers sell flowers, orchids and fresh vegetables.
There are facilities for water sports on the lake, and
an 18-hole championship golf course further up the valley.
Points of interest enroute are:
Sangeh - the monkey forest with its tribe of friendly
inhabitants.
Taman Ayun - the state temple of the former Mengwi Kingdom,
built in 1634.
Tanah Lot - the seaside temple, a favourite spot for
watching the sunset.

- 07 KARANGASEM TOUR
(8.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m)
Located
in the eastern part of Bali, Karangasem Regency offers
a variety of hilly and mountainous scenery. Remains
of former royal grandeur can be seen at the water palace
of Ujung, which has been partly destroyed by a succession
of earthquakes in recent years, and also there is the
rest house at Tirta Gangga, where a natural spring feeds
a series of clear pools. On the way to Karangasem there
will be opportunities to visit:
Gianyar - Bali's major centre of weaving.
Klungkung - to see the ancient court of justice, Kertagosa.
Goa Lawah - the Bat Cave, with its thousands of chattering
winged dwellers.
Tenganan - the "original" Balinese village,
where life goes on according to ancient pre-Hindu customs
and traditions. Return via Sibetan where the salak palms
grow, pausing at Putung, Selat and Sidemen villages
with their lush terraced rice fields.
