Bali experiences small growth
in tourism
Denpasar
- Foreign direct arrivals to Bali indeed have experienced
a significant hike, but the growth of volume for tourism service
remained small, only at 0.57 percent. In the meantime the
price growth in the sector was only 0.01 percent compared
to minus 0.01 percent earlier, said the head section of statistics
and economic monetary study of Bank Indonesia of Denpasar,
Ocky, recently here.
He mentioned based on the surveys in June 2005, it had been
recognized that the volume of service for recreation and travel
agent had been respectively, 0.05 percent and minus 0.04 percent.
However, on the other side of the coin their prices grew by
0.03 percent and 0.02 percent.
The number of foreign travelers to Bali has tended to hike
since 2004, but financially the earnings of tourism industry
remained below normal.
The possible factor according to Ocky perhaps because the
prices offered by tourism players in Bali post the Bali bombings
up to now remained in discounted prices.
In accordance to the reports of Bali Tourism Authority, the
number of foreign direct arrivals for the first quarter of
2005 were as many as 319,718 guests, increasing 10.9 percent
compared to the same period a year earlier with 288,262 foreigners.
Of those tourists, Japanese travelers were in first, as many
as 75,062 guests, tailed by Australians, 57,922 guests, and
Taiwanese in third, as many as 27,795 guests. *pry/ant
